First Steps

  1. Perform a full water chemistry test for these standard levels:
    • FC, CC, TC, pH, CYA, CA, Salinity, Alkalinity, Phosphates, Nitrates, Metals, Saturation Index
    • Ensure test results are from the last 24 hours, compare to results from previous weeks.
  2. Double check these common issues:
    • Check that your salinity is in range, ideally 3500ppm
    • Clean your cell thoroughly follow the manual's instructions - do this , or until no more "fizzing" occurs after new cleaning solution is added inside the cell.
    • Confirm that input power is present and check that all cables are fully connected.
  3. Restart your unit by turning it off and on, raising its chlorine output level to 100%. Allow it to run at least 5 minutes before proceeding with troubleshooting diagnostics.

Common Questions

Q:if cell maintenance light flashes like a strobe light instead of a solid light what does that mean?

Asked by: Otis Lowery - 2/14/2022
A: This is simply a reminder to inspect your cell. To reset it, hold down the system status button for about 10 seconds, and then the light will go out.

Q:The cell maintenance light on my control panel is blinking. The owner's manual talks about that light being on but not if it's blinking. The cell appears to still be generating chlorine and I removed the cell for cleaning but really did not see any scale in there

Asked by: Steven Bongiorno - 7/21/2022
A: If the light is blinking, it just needs to be reset. You'll hold the "system status" button down for about 10 seconds, and the light will go out. This blinking light does not impact operation.

Q:Will this control panel work with a Hayward Salt Cell?

Asked by: Steve - 2/14/2022
A: No, this model is a stand-alone system, though it can easily be installed in place of an existing Hayward-brand salt system without the need to replumb. To replace a Hayward-brand salt cell on its own, you may want to look at these aftermarket replacement cells
