Q: Will this work on 24 round above ground pool that is 5 ft deep ?

Asked by: Kenneth - 6/20/2020
A: That would be about 17,000 gallons of water. No, you would typically need a salt chlorinator with at least 30,000 gallon capacity or more. You may want to take a look at the SJ40 or RJ30+ model.

Q: Is this a complete system? How easy is this to install?

Asked by: Pete - 11/26/2019
A: Yes, this is a complete system. Installation typically takes about an hour if you can cut & glue PVC pipe and connect it to power. For the easiest installation (as little as 15 minutes), you may like the CORE-Series systems, which also have longer lifespan, longer warranty, and more power: https://www.circupool.com/CORE-Series_c_49.html

Q: I have 8,000 gal. Do they make a smaller unit? Thank you

Asked by: Robert Pickens - 3/31/2021
A: This is the smallest model size, industry standards recommend having a salt chlorinator with a maximum capacity much higher than your actual pool size. You can see more info about sizing here: https://www.circupool.com/5-Reasons-why-you-should-over-size-your-salt-system_ep_94-1.html

Q: I purchased a SJ-20 (from Amazon, hasn't arrived yet) it was a panic buy, only nine left yada yada, no chlorine available locally. but I realize now that the unit will likely be undersized as my pool is 30000 gallons. they didn't indicate volume or capacity and I did not find you website until after i made the purchase. So am i wasting my time with this unit or do I have any recourse ( upgrade path? bigger cell etc.) any input would be appreciated.

Asked by: Robert K Isensee - 5/19/2021
A: Sorry to hear you're in that situation. The system would likely only be a supplement for such a big pool and would require additional sanitation. Give us a call at 888-206-9938 and we can help discuss what options you might have.

Q: How difficult is it to convert a chlorine tablet system to the Circupool SJ~20 system? Is the conversion similar to the one you use to convert from one salt system to the circupool product. Thanks

Asked by: Bob - 8/4/2021
A: Good question. "Converting" just means installing the salt chlorinator and adding salt to the pool. Often this can be done in as little as an hour or two. If you'd like more information about installation, the manual (see description area on the product page) provides more details, and we are happy to answer questions at 888-206-9938

Asked by: Bob - 10/29/2021

Answer provided by: Carl (10/29/2021)
A: Generally speaking, any pump needs to "turnover" all the water through the pool through the filter 1.5 - 2x per day. How that is achieved will depend on the pump's performance, the "head" or effort required to move the water through your unique setup, etc...

Q: Is it OK to install the salt generator cell (SJ-20) and flow sensor on the discharge piping of my pool cartridge cannister?

Asked by: Wayne - 5/14/2022
A: That would be typical; essentially, the salt cell should be the last thing the water goes through before returning to the pool.

Q: Hi, I'm a return customer. Well, I think it's time to replace the old system with a new one. My question is... I see a round "white" fitting with wires attached in your photos. What is that? I don't have anything like that on my current system (RJ20 serial # 030282). Also, will the chlorinator fit the same fittings as my old system? Thank You!

Asked by: Tom DeLosa - 5/16/2022
A: Tom, it sounds like you might be referring to a "flow switch", which is an additional sensor that newer systems have. Depending on which older system you might have, we offer adapter kits that could make it possible to add a new system without replumbing - give us a call so we can clarify which model you do have (RJ, SJ...) and we are happy to assist. 888-206-9938

Q: Do I need a flow sensor with the SJ system? How do you know the differences between SJ-20 and others? Is it size of pool?Location?

Asked by: david - 5/29/2022
A: This model comes with a flow switch, which is required for operation. You would choose the model size based on your pool size and other factors such as what is detailed here: https://www.circupool.com/How-To-Properly-Size-Your-Salt-Chlorine-Generator_ep_97-1.html

Q: Will this handle a 72000 litre pool in a northern rn climate

Asked by: Jphn - 7/21/2022
A: That would be approximately 19,000 gallons. No, that would not be appropriate sizing. The industry standard is to get a salt chlorinator with 1.5x-2x the maximum capacity than your actual pool size. You can see more sizing information here:
